Option 2: Principles of Finishing with Marci Richardson -- Have you ever finished a project after great time and expense only to be disappointed with the results? Did the designer leave out a few details that they assumed you knew how to do? Then this is the class for you! Finishing begins with the first stitch of the garment. Students will be learning how to avoid some of the many pitfalls inherent with garment structure, including when, where and how to shape in both standard and yoked sweaters, the important information gleaned from the dreaded swatch, how to seam in stockinette stitch, garter stitch and colorwork, and the basics of blocking. Students will also be encouraged to bring along a project that they have finished and are not happy with and if time allows we will look at other possibilities.
Materials needed: darning needle, yarn scraps in various colors in worsted weight.
Homework: 2 swatches each in stockinette stitch and garter stitch for seaming in worsted weight yarn - more details to follow.
