Faroe Islands: 2025 Textile Tour

Join us for the Faroe Islands 2025 Adventure, an unforgettable twelve-day journey from June 7-18, 2025, with an early arrival option on June 6. This trip will immerse you in this remote archipelago's stunning landscapes and vibrant culture. This tour showcases the Faroe Islands' dramatic cliffs, picturesque villages, and rich traditions, all while offering a unique glimpse into the local way of life.

This year’s tour starts in Vágar, with stunning views of the Mulafossur Waterfall, a hike to Lake Leitisvatn where the Bøsdalafossur Waterfall cascades into the Atlantic Ocean, and visits to Sandavágur and Gasadalur where we will sample and enjoy local cuisine. We will take a scenic boat ride to the enchanting island of Mykines, home to puffins and stunning coastal scenery. New this year - a two day exploration of the most southern island of Suðuroy for more stunning scenery and local culture. We return to the charming capital of Tórshavn, for a city tour, textile workshops, and optional horseback riding before heading north to Klaksvik and the most northern village in Eysturoy, the iconic Gjógv. Our last night will be spent on the island of Nolsoy for a special farewell dinner of traditional dishes and knitting club with locals, no knitting required!

We then journey together (flight included in the tour package) to Denmark for three days in the lovely city of Copenhagen, starting off with a guided city tour and optional free time for further exploration. New this year - a group tour of Malmö and Lund in Sweden, over the Øresund Bridge!

Activity Level 2: Moderate

This is the majority of our tours, with a balance of time spent on sedentary activities, such as sightseeing on the bus and attending classes or lectures, and physical exertion. The more strenuous activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, and paragliding, are often optional, with other less exerting activities or free time, making this tour suitable for most fitness levels. Travelers participating in the more strenuous activities need to be able to walk up to 3-4 miles, or 2-3 hours, over uneven, sometimes hilly terrain with a day pack. There will be some early morning starts and late day finishes.

Early Arrival Option (June 6, 2025)

Arrive a day early to acclimate and explore the Faroe Islands. Meet at Vágar Airport where we take a short 3 min walk to the Hotel Vágar, where we will stay for the next two nights.

Day 1: Saturday, June 7, 2025 – Arrival in the Faroe Islands

Travelers arriving today will be met by our guide and taken to Hotel Vágar to check-in. After check-in, enjoy a guided walk along Lake Leitisvatn, the largest lake in the Faroe Islands. The hike to Trælanípa, known as the 'slave mountain', offers stunning views and access to Bøsdalafossur waterfall. Dinner will follow at the historic Fiskastykkið in Sandavágur.

Day 2: Sunday, June 8, 2025 – Mykines & Gásadalur

Take the morning ferry to Mykines, famous for its puffins and breathtaking landscapes. After a hike to see the puffins, enjoy lunch on the island. In the afternoon, visit Gásadalur for views of Múlafoss Waterfall and dine at Gásadalsgarður, experiencing traditional Faroese cuisine.

Day 3: Monday, June 9, 2025 – Northern Suðuroy Exploration

Check out of Hotel Vágar and travel to Tórshavn, then ferry to Suðuroy. Explore the towns of Hvalba and Tvøroyri, including historical sites and black sand beaches. Optional afternoon hike to Hvannhagi or visit Ruth Smith Museum. Overnight at Hotel Tvøroyri, dinner in Vágur.

Day 4: Tuesday, June 10, 2025 – Southern Suðuroy Adventure

Akraberg visit to see the lighthouse and Beinisvørð bird cliffs. After a box lunch, return to Tórshavn by ferry and check into Hotel Brandan for a five-night stay. Group dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 5: Wednesday, June 11, 2025 – Tórshavn & Kirkjubøur

Begin with a guided tour in Tórshavn, where you will visit local textile designs by Mýrifípan. Afterward, explore Kirkjubøur and its historical sites, including Magnus Cathedral and Roykstovan. In the afternoon, enjoy an hour-long talk at Fjallaross about the fascinating Faroese ponies.

Day 6: Thursday, June 12, 2025 – Tjóðsavnið & Klaksvik

Visit the National Museum of the Faroe Islands and head to Snældan spinning mill. Lunch at Café Fríða in Klaksvik and visit Christianskirkjan. Explore Gjógv before returning to Tórshavn for the evening.

Day 7: Friday, June 13, 2025 – Kvívík & Vestmanna

Explore Kvívíkknit’s knitting club before heading to Vestmanna for lunch. Afternoon boat tour along the Vestmanna bird cliffs. Return to Tórshavn for dinner.

Day 8: Saturday, June 14, 2025 – Optional Workshop with Designer

Option to learn from Designer Katrina í Geil on Faroese textiles, including a workshop. Afternoon - optional Icelandic Horseback riding. Evening ferry to Nolsoy for dinner and a bindiklubb with locals.

Day 9: Sunday, June 15, 2025 – Departure to Copenhagen

Depart the Faroe Islands with a flight from Vagar Airport to Copenhagen, which is included in your package. Upon arrival, guests will walk to the airport exit, where a guide and driver for a bus city tour of Copenhagen will meet them. After the tour, check into the Phoenix Copenhagen for three nights.

Please note that international airfare to Vagar and from Copenhagen back home is not included.

Day 10: Monday, June 16, 2025 – Malmö Day Trip

Explore Malmö, including Malmöhus, Kungsparken, Jakriborg, Lund Cathedral, and historic sites.

Day 11: Tuesday, June 17, 2025 – Free Day in Copenhagen

Explore Copenhagen at your leisure, with recommended sights including Amalienborg Palace, Rosenborg Castle, and more.

Day 12: Wednesday, June 18, 2025 – Depart Copenhagen

Farewell to Denmark as you head to the airport for your flights home.
